On the road again...

I took a spur of the moment trip to Utah with Katie Oberan this past weekend. It was a lot of fun. We left Saturday and came back Tuesday. Got to visit with friends and take a break from life. It was good.

I went to bear world with Rachel, Luke, and Lincoln. It was a lot of fun. There were bears everywhere (including on our car) and they had the cutest bear cubs. Day well spent.

So, when I went back home for the break between semesters I flew out of Boise with Derek Young. The ride there and back was long, but really fun. I got to meet some of Derek's cousins and spend time with them. They are so cool! I had soo very much fun with them. And I'm an honorary cousin now....yes!!! (That's pretty awesome if you ask me) Thanks again Julie and Tim!

Well, so much has been going on. School, school, oh and more school. Here's what I have been up to.

Abbey turned 20, so we had a surprise party for her. Complete with pin the tail on the donkey and face painting.

We had another Salem night. We chose the windiest and coldest evening to do it.

Today was both Mindy's and my birthday. (Is that correct grammar?) It was fun! We have such great roommates. Abbey made us both a cake, and she made me the cutest birthday card ever! Mindy and I went to dinner at Winger's and then we had FHE where we sang and had cake. Derek and Jason decorated my car and apartment windows. My parents also sent me flowers and a card too! I felt very loved today! Thank you all. :)

Kelsey, Mindy and I went down to Utah this past weekend. It was a lot of fun. We went to the Mayan, a mexican restaurant where they have cliff divers. Kelsey and Mindy had never been. I got to see a few friends and the capital building and the library in Salt Lake. The mountains are so beautiful and comforting. It was great to be there.

Mom, Megan and I went out to the barn on Thursday so I could meet Tudie, Megan and Scott's new horse. It was perfect weather and so beautiful out there. Lots of horses. We took pictures of almost all of them. :)

I went to the beach with my friends Serenna and Nicci to see Joan Jett! It was awesome. We stayed overnight and hung out for a while the next day. It was a blast!

Here are some pictures of what I have been doing since I've been home.

Saturday my mom and I went to Mt. Angel. Mt. Angel is an old German town, so it was really fun to see!

We went to an Abbey. It was really cool, especially since we had studied Catholicism in my Sacred Art class.

There was a Library, there were over 250,000 books! It was huge. Old books too.

Prayer books for mass and Vespers.

Here I am making good use of my time, while mom used the restroom. :)

We had another Salem night last Saturday. It started out with just Derek, Erica, Sierra, and me. Then we picked up a few stragglers. We had potatoes then watched "Have you heard about the Morgans?" then had a ping pong tournament. It was fun! It's nice to have people from home here at college to hang out with.

Katchina...she's not from Salem, but we let her join anyways.

This Weekend

Busy weekend. Katie's family was here, so we had her 9 year old sister here for the night. Plus, Kelsey's brother is here for a few days. It's been fun.

Friday night we went to dinner at TGI Friday's for Allie's birthday.

Saturday we went to dinner at Big Jud's. Home of the 1 lb hamburger.

Sunday we went over to some friend's from the ward. They made us taco's for dinner.

It's been a good and busy weekend.

Theodore Gericault, Insane Woman. In the 1800's they started learning of the brain, subconscious, thus figuring out people had mental problems. Gericault was a painter of "insane" people for a book about care for them.

Francisco Goya, Saturn Devouring One of His Children. Sorry, it's a little gory. Story goes that Saturn's children were going to be more powerful than him, so he ate them. Nice guy.

Angelica Kauffmann, Cornelia Presenting Her Children as Her Treasures. The woman sitting is showing the other woman her new jewelry. She asks her what her treasures are and she presents her with her children.

Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres, Grande Odalisque. If you will notice, her left leg doesn't seem to fit right. And her torso is extremely long. I still think it's beautiful.

Salem Night

We had a potluck for all the people here that are from Salem, and surrounding areas. It was a lot of fun. There is at least 30 of us here...only 8 or so came. We ate, played Mario Kart, and had a ping pong tournament. It was a lot of fun!

Well I am very lucky/blessed with great roommates this semester. I'd like to introduce them to you. :)

Kristen, from Virginia. Aka... Well, Kristen. She is engaged to Nathaniel. He's pretty much a roommate too. :) Kristen is the sweetest person you will meet. Always positive, and doesn't have a mean bone in her body! (PS. Nathaniel's pretty cool too. Haha. Nah, well all love him!)

Abbey, from Germany (dad is in the military): Aka..Abs, Abber, Abernacle, Abster...I could go on forever. But, alas, I won't. Abbey is awesome. Good talker and listener. She really cares about people and has a great laugh. PS, she laughs at EVERYTHING. (Even my jokes, so that's nice.)

Katie, from Las Vegas. Aka.. Kate. Katie is smart. She knows something about everything. She's fun to hang out with and always has a good story to tell. She's wise, and kind.

Kelsey, from Texas. Aka.. Kels. Haha. I guess that's it. What to say about Kelsey. I think Kels is great. She's very kind. She'll do anything for anyone at any time. Plus she has the cutest giggle!

Mindy, from Texas. Aka.. Baby Mindy, Min. She's the youngest of the clan and my room roommate. We share a birthday, only she was born 9 years after me! She's so much fun. We have a lot of fun breaking out in spontaneous raps and dances. Oh, and she sings like an angel.

To my childhood...

Forts! In the living room. The first one Kelsey and I slept out in...well I slept out there until I woke up with Kelsey on top of me! Then I went back to my bed and slept...plus I was freezing. :)

The second one took place at 2 in the morning. I just watched Mindy and Abster put it together. I'm getting too old to participate much. Haha. Nah, someone had to document it!

I knew I brought an extra set of sheets for a reason! (Shhh. Don't tell them I posted these pictures of them...they said I couldn't put them on facebook...as far as I know, this isn't facebook.) Haha.

So we have a pretty dog-gone cool FHE group. We meet every Monday evening and do and activity and have a lesson. We went ice skating one night. I'm pretty sure all of my appendages would have frozen off if we had stayed outside much longer!

That I have this figured out there will be a flood of posts! Yes, I am putting my homework off, but I am doing this for YOU. ;o) I'm loving this semester. Great apartment, awesome roomies, and the weather is great. The snow is starting to melt, and it's warm enough to go outside without a coat! (in the upper 30s, lower 40s) Classes, well I am taking a drawing class, art history 2, sacred art (studying the 7 major world religions and their art) Book of Mormon 2, and Children's Lit.

Right now, I'd like to share with you some of my favorite art works we have studied in Art History, and some I have just found. If you aren't comfortable with nudity, please close the window now. Haha.

4th of July

Well we had a nice 4 day weekend for the 4th of July. Stacie and I were the only ones home for the holiday so we went paddle boating on Justin's (Stacie's boyfriend) grandma's pond, tin foil dinners, went to Yellowstone, and then to Idaho Falls for fireworks. It was fun!

Woot! One thing Idaho has going for it is the beautiful places so close to campus! I went to Mesa and Cave Falls with my new friend Leslie. (At the beginning of June) It was fun. The mosquitos were out in full force! Holy cow! Also I did the best face plant ever. I'm cool, I know.

I turned 27 yesterday. It was a really good day. Went to church, took a birthday nap, went to the CES fireside, came home, opened my package on webcam so my fam could see, I got candles, money, gift card, and a Zune, my fam made me a birthday cake and lit candles and sang to me over the webcam, I virtually blew out the candles, (Megan did it for me there)....then my roommates being the not so good communicators made me two cakes! Robin made a chocolate cake and Shanna made a carrot cake with a really good homemade frosting. We lit candles and sang. Stacy came over too. She made me a carrot cake and brought a homemade card over. Then I went over to Luke and Rachel's for birthday ice cream. All in all it was a really good day! I feel loved! Now it's my roommate Lindsay's turn... it's her birthday today! (I'm in the library right now...so I will add pictures later.)

Also on Saturday Stacy and I went to see Rockapella. It was sooo good! They are an a capella group with a guy that does the human drums and one that does human bass. The other 3 sing. They are really good and funny. You may have heard of them...they did the "Where in the world is Carmen San Diego" theme song.

I've felt as I've been home lately. It's been raining a lot...a lot. And sideways! I've had to dry my hair and change my clothes twice in the past few days! Right now it's sunny and cool though. My favorite kind of weather.

I'll also post pics of stuff we've been doing around the apartment and photo's of my art assignments.

Three Strikes...

I'm out. I fell yet again today. So there I was. I went with Stacy and her roommates swimming. I just put my feet it. When I got out and went to get up I slipped and landed on my right knee. At least I wasn't all the way up! Also tonight I went at saw Sould Street Dance Company. They weren't the best hip hop dancers I've seen, but they sure were entertaining! I had a good time!

Idaho is the sunsets. Beautiful almost every night. Tonight I got a cool picture of one. Let me show you.

Also there is construction everywhere. They are building a new auditorium that will seat 15,000. Here is a pic of that.

Here is the outside of my apartment building. Notice the blue car on the right....that's where I have fallen twice!

Oh and another plus is that the laundry room is right next door to my apartment! Minus...the wall shakes everytime someone shuts the laundry room door. Small price to pay!

awesome person I know. Yeah, you heard me, AWESOME. So a long time ago when I was here the first time...2001, I fell on the ice 7 times. 7 times! Back to the present...Awesome act #1 Tuesday I was texting my aunt and walking to class...I missed a step and fell down on my knees. Plus my phone went skidding across the pavement. Awesome act #2 yesterday I was walking in that same place and boom! I twisted my ankle...yes the same one I twisted just a few weeks ago, and feel onto my left knee. Geez! Today, with a little pep talk from my roommate...left, right, left, right...and a lot of praying...I was able to successfully walk past that "problem spot" twice and stay upright! Woot! Now something that really makes me awesome is that I am pretty much done with my homework that is due Monday...and it's only Thursday! Double woot! Here's a picture of my knee. :)

Friday evening I went with Stacy and a few of her friends "camping" (I only stayed a few hours to hang out) The camp ground was right off the highway and was dirt and dead trees. Big difference from Oregon. Luckily there was a river near by and I got some nice pictures. Notice the moose across the river. We bonded.

Oh Idaho how I...

Kind of like you. Here I am, in the beautiful little town of Rexburg Idaho, America's Family Community. (Bet you didn't know that). Population 17,257.

I arrived Thursday evening close to 11pm. My friend Stacy and I drove 13 hours. While driving I only dozed off once near The Dalles. Just swerved a little into the other lane. No biggie. Right? I stayed in the Best Western for the night. Check out wasn't until noon, so I got to sleep in. I checked into my apartment Friday, and was unloaded and unpacked in 3 hours. (That included breaks) Go me.

I moved into an apartment with 5 girls I did not know. Shanna, Stacie, Robin, Chantell and Lindsay. All of which are very nice. (Pictures of them to come soon)
